Greater New Orleans Federal Credit Union Supports Back-to-School Supply Drive for Convent House New Orleans

Greater New Orleans Federal Credit Union, GNO FCU, supported a Back-to-School Supply Drive for Covenant House New Orleans, CHNO, by providing donations in preparation for the new school year. CHNO serves young people overcoming homelessness and trafficking. With God’s grace, last year, their dedicated staff provided relentless support, unconditional love, and absolute respect to more than 900 youth and children, ages 22 and under.

President and CEO Shelley Sanders urged staff to lift those up who need it the most. “Covenant House’s mission is to provide shelter and work to heal children, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, while tending to their educational needs. The credit union’s mission, ‘not for profit, not for charity, but for service,’ perfectly encapsulates why we support those less fortunate. Every donation will help educate these children,” she said. Eager to assist students with obtaining the tools needed for academic success, GNO FCU opened the Back-to-School Supply Drive to the public, encouraging them to donate and support CHNO as well.

As a testament of unity and commitment, collectively a total of 250 school supply items were received and donated to CHNO. GNO FCU employees, through the Hope, Heart and Soul Program, presented CHNO with a $500.00 check. The HH&S program was created as a way for employees to give back to the community. The philosophy at GNO FCU is and has always been, “People Helping People.”
