Membership
GNO is “Your Credit Union” having served the Greater New Orleans area for over 80 years. See how you and your family can enjoy the many benefits of becoming a member of GNO and enjoy the credit union difference!
“People helping people” is the basic premise of credit unions worldwide. And, in order to serve that philosophy, credit unions typically provide members with lower loan rates, competitive savings rates, and have little to no fee charges. GNO’s commitment to this global philosophy, lets us provide a full range of services equal to or in most cases, better than those at other financial institutions fulfilling our goal of providing Better Banking to all our members.
You’re an Owner.
When you deposit money into a credit union savings (share) account, it becomes your “share” of the Credit Union! In other words, you become a member and an owner. While other financial institutions pay profits to outside stockholders, credit unions return their net earnings to their own member-owners, through high dividends (interest) on savings and low loan rates.
The Board of Directors sets policies and guidelines that oversee all aspects of the credit union’s operations. These volunteers have a personal interest in the credit union’s success because they are members-owners, too.
Service is personal.
Our knowledgeable and friendly staff is ready to assist those members who prefer person-to-person service. We pride ourselves on finding the best solutions for each of our member’s individual needs.
Our insurance is the safest around.
Funds on deposits at GNO are federally insured to at least $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the Federal Government.
