Greater New Orleans Federal Credit Union Supports Covenant House New Orleans with Back-to-School and Baby Supply Drive
Greater New Orleans Federal Credit Union, GNO FCU, supported a Back-to-School and Baby Supply Drive for Covenant House New Orleans, CHNO, by providing donations in preparation for the new school year and for their new Maternal Pathways Home opening September 16, 2022. Covenant House has been and will always be a safe haven for vulnerable young people. Their New Maternal Pathways Program serves pregnant women who are homeless, from the 1st trimester through baby’s first year of life. It is a model of care that brings all prenatal and postnatal services into the home environment combined with our other wraparound services. With God’s grace, last year, their dedicated staff provided relentless support, unconditional love, and absolute respect to more than 900 youth and children, ages 22 and under.
President and CEO Shelley Sanders urged staff to lift those up who need it the most. “At GNO, we try to live out the credit union mission in everything we do. Credit Unions were created to help those in need, with the core mission of not for profit, not for charity, but for service. Covenant House works hard to meet the needs of young people in our community who desperately need the resources they provide. We are so thankful that we get to partner with them as they help those seeking a better life for themselves.” Eager to assist, GNO FCU opened the Back-to-School and Baby Supply Drive to the public, encouraging them to donate and support CHNO as well.
As a testament of unity and commitment, collectively a total of over 450 items were received and donated to CHNO. GNO FCU employees, through the Hope, Heart and Soul Program, presented CHNO with a $1,000.00 check. The HH&S program was created as a way for employees to give back to the community. The philosophy at GNO FCU is and has always been, “People Helping People.”
