A Message from Janet Sanders, GNO Federal Credit Union President & CEO

The last several weeks and months have been a period of substantial change for us as a credit union and as individuals. We have had to overhaul the way we do business and the way in which we live our lives. These changes have caused us to rethink our daily routines both at work and at home. We have spent countless hours questioning how we can continue to offer you the same products and services you have grown to expect from us, while doing it safely and still contributing to our local economy.
I hope as you read this message, you and your loved ones are healthy and safe. I assure you that the staff at your credit union has worked tirelessly throughout this time to continue to provide you with as many essential services we could, while keeping our employees safe and healthy. As an essential business, GNO has remained open and operational throughout the “stay at home” order to meet our members’ needs at a time when so many are in need. We have heard hundreds of heart wrenching stories and our employees, working from their kitchen tables and home offices, have provided countless hours of consultation and financial support to so many in our community. Our drive thru lanes remained open to our members, as well as members of other credit unions in our community. And our Call Center never missed a beat. We hope we have been able to fulfill a service for you as we continue to keep evolving throughout these challenging times.
As we move forward and begin to reopen our branches, we will follow the state and local guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our employees, our members and our community. In doing so, we have provided for appropriate social distancing measures in our lobbies, personal protection for our employees and sanitization at all branches.
Beginning Monday, May 18th, we will reopen our branch lobbies and retain the same shortened hours that we have had during the stay at home order. This will give everyone an opportunity to adjust to the new normal using Covid-19 protocol: Monday 9:00 – 4:00, Tuesday through Thursday 10:00 – 3:00, Friday, 9:00 – 4:00 (lobby) 9:00 – 6:00 (drive thru) and Saturday 9:00 – 1:00.
Upon entering a branch, members will be instructed to use the hand sanitizer, as well as wear a protective face mask. Members who wish to consult with an Account Officer but do not want to visit a lobby, can either call our Call Center at 504-454-8224 and ask to speak to an Account Officer or book a video appointment. Of course, our drive thru lanes will continue to operate as they have been throughout the stay at home order.
If you do not yet have Home or Mobile banking, I urge you to sign up today. This will offer you the convenience and flexibility of banking from the comfort of your own home. You can pay bills, make a mobile deposit, freeze and unfreeze your GNO debit or credit card, make account to account transfers and so much more! We have a short video tutorial on how to sign up for Home banking located in the Covid-19 Assistance Center on our website at www.gnofcu.com. Of course, our Call Center remains open and happily ready to assist you and can be reached at 504-454-8224. We have experienced higher than normal call volume, so please be patient.
One last bit of news; we are excited to announce that the long-awaited ATM at our new Harvey branch is being installed as I type this message. Please check the website for updates or drive by and wave hello from the safety of your windshield. We will give you a big wave and a smile from beneath our mask.
In closing, I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we walk through this “new normal” together.

Economic Impact Stimulus Payments
The first stimulus deposits began hitting member accounts on April 14, 2020 and we expect those deposits to continue through the end of the month. Payments are being distributed by the IRS in waves. If someone you know has received their payment, but you haven’t, there is no cause for concern. You can track your payment and eligibility by visiting https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment . You can also access your account through Online Banking or on the GNO FCU Mobile App to monitor when the deposit is posted to your account.
