Checklist

As part of the mortgage application process, you will be asked to provide certain documents to verify the income and employment information on your application. Here's a short list of the materials you'll need to gather and have ready to submit along with your application. Print this checklist to help you get everything together. Having this information together ahead of time will make it easier for you to prepare your application and for GNO Federal Credit Union to process it and give you a fast response.

Borrower Information

  • Borrower's legal name(s) to appear on the deed
  • Current and/or previous address history for two years, including phone numbers
  • Social Security numbers of all borrowers
  • Dates of birth of all borrowers

Employment/Income 

  •  W-2 forms for the last two years
  • Pay stub(s) showing year-to-date and current period earnings (less than 30 days old). If you have additional income, you may need to provide documentation
  • Employment history for two years, including name, address and phone number of employer
  • If self-employed or receiving commission earnings, last two years' tax returns, including schedules and current financial statements
  • If using income from alimony or child support to qualify: copies of court decrees stipulating this income and proof of its receipt for the past 12 months*
  • Rental agreements or tax returns to verify rental property income

* Is not required unless applicant wants this to be considered as part of income for credit purpose.

Bank Accounts/Investments/Assets

  • Bank statements for the past two months, including checking, savings and money market accounts
  • Brokerage account statement for the past three months 
  • Copy of retirement benefit statements, including IRAs and Keoghs
  • List of assets and values, including cars, stocks, and real estate

Creditors

  • List of liabilities including name and address of creditor, account number, monthly payment, outstanding balance (credit cards, loans, and current mortgages)
  • Alimony or child support expense documented by divorce decree

In addition to the above information, the following information will be needed based on the type transaction.

Purchase

  • Verification of your down payment source
  • Evidence of additional sources of funds needed for closing costs and associated fees
  • Copy of the completed sales contract for the property you wish to buy

Refinance

  • Copy of deed with legal description
  • Copy of homeowner's insurance
  • Property tax bill or property tax assessment
