Soldier's Angels

Metairie, Louisiana – March 10, 2010 – With the Soldier’s Angels motto, "May No Soldier Go Unloved," as a compelling motivation, GNO FCU members and employees humbly donated $682.68 to Soldier’s Angels Operation Phone Home Program to support U.S. Troops and their families. Keeping in touch with loved ones is a precious gift especially while serving in the military over seas. Collectively members and employees donated over 40 Global Calling Cards containing almost 7,000 minutes of airtime.

"We are honored to be able to participate in a program that brings home a little closer to our troops serving our country. Their courage and commitment to protect our nation can never be repaid, but we hope that these actions can at least offer a heartfelt thank you," says Janet Sanders, GNO FCU President/CEO.

Operation Phone Home partners Soldier’s Angels and AT&T (GNO FCU’s original sponsor group) to create Soldier’s Angels/AT&T Global PrePaid Calling Cards. AT&T Calling Cards are widely accepted in the Middle East and can be used globally on land or at sea. Each card includes a special recorded thank you message from Soldier’s Angels.

Soldiers’ Angels is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing aid and comfort to the men and

women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and their families. They have over 200,000 Angel volunteers assisting veterans, wounded and deployed personnel and their families in a variety of unique and effective ways. Black & Gold Haiti Fundraiser

Metairie, Louisiana – February 2, 2010 - GNO FCU employees have parlayed their exhilaration for their home town team – the New Orleans Saints - and their heartfelt concern for the Haitian earthquake victims into an enthusiastic endeavor for both! Employees donating $15.00 or more to the WOCCU Disaster Relief Fund for Haiti have the option of wearing their Black & Gold from Friday, January 29 through Super Bowl Monday.

Needless to say, both are efforts that the employees are happy to support. Branch lobbies are also decked out in Saints pendants, gold stars and balloons to make this an unforgettable experience for our credit union members, too.

“It’s been quite a week at GNO FCU since we also went live with our new SYMITAR Core Processing System, ” reports GNO FCU President/CEO Janet L. Sanders.  “And just like the Saints, our team trained hard and delivered a winning SYMITAR season.”
